SAHS Campus Ministry forms student, faculty, and staff leaders through regular faith formation, prayer, and service opportunities which are organized in conjunction with St. Anthony Parish and the wider Milwaukee community.
SAHS’ Catholic identity begins with the sacraments. Every Friday, we celebrate an All-School Mass. Students serve as altar servers, lectors, and gift bearers. Every Thursday, Confession is offered in the chapel. Regular participation in the sacraments brings the transformative power of grace into our school.
SAHS Campus Ministry coordinates annual retreats for high school students. Retreats allow students to get to know each other in a fun setting while learning about SAHS’ core Franciscan values.
SAHS Campus Ministry organizes regular prayer services throughout the year. We pray the Rosary together as a school community during October and May, and we pray the Stations of the Cross together during Lent. Eucharistic Adoration is offered every First Friday. Other prayer services are organized throughout the year for special intentions or celebrations, such as the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
SAHS Campus Ministry also offers regular opportunities for faculty, staff, and student faith formation. These include participating in the March for Life, attending John Bosco Day and CYRE Eucharistic rallies as well as participating in small group discussions and study opportunities.
SAHS Campus Ministry believes in putting faith into action through community service. Campus Ministry spearheads a series of community service projects throughout the year including:
Campus Ministry also collaborates with Student Government and Student Activities to coordinate additional service opportunities for the school community.
SAHS collaborates closely with St. Anthony Parish. Confirmation classes are offered at the high school by Sr. Janeth Vasconez, Ph.D the Director of Religious Education. Sr. Janeth can also work with students who would like to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confession, and first Holy Communion. Parish priests celebrate Mass and offer Confessions on a weekly basis. Students are encouraged to participate in the faith life of St. Anthony parish or their own home parish.
