President’s Message

Dear St. Anthony Families,

Welcome to St. Anthony School, a community deeply rooted in faith, academic excellence, and opportunity. As the largest Catholic school in Wisconsin, we have proudly served students and families on Milwaukee’s Southside for over 150 years.

At St. Anthony, we believe education is more than academics—it is about nurturing the whole child. We prepare students for a lifetime of success through rigorous learning, faith formation, leadership development, and extracurricular opportunities in sports, music, and the arts.

Since becoming President in 2019, I have been dedicated to enhancing our academic programs, expanding opportunities, and cultivating a culture of excellence. In the past year, we have achieved remarkable milestones thanks to our dedicated educators, supportive families, and generous community partners:

  • Academic Growth: Students achieved a 15% increase in English Language Arts and a 5.3% increase in Math on the Wisconsin State Forward Exam.

  • College Readiness: 100% of graduates were accepted into college, earning $26 million in merit-based scholarships.

  • Dual Language Expansion: Our youngest learners now have access to bilingual education, enhancing their language development and cultural competency.

  • Early College Success: Our first cohort of high school students graduated with Associate of Science degrees through our partnership with Viterbo University! We’ve also strengthened our course offerings so that students may earn college credit through Advanced Placement (AP) courses and dual enrollment opportunities with UW-Milwaukee (UWM) and Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), providing them with a strong foundation for future success.

  • Campus Enhancements: We completed renovations to our preschool, chapel, and outdoor spaces, creating a safer and more enriching learning environment.

  • Growing Our Community: We welcomed 200 new students through the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, expanding educational opportunities for more families.

  • Unforgettable Student Experiences: Our middle school students embarked on a Washington, D.C. trip, and our high school seniors embarked on an inaugural pilgrimage to Mexico City.

As an immigrant and lifelong educator, I know firsthand that education is the key to opportunity. My parents instilled this belief in me when we left Cuba in 1966, and it has driven my 30+ year career in education. Today, I am proud to lead St. Anthony School as we continue our mission of preparing students for post-secondary success.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. I look forward to working together to make this an educational and faith-filled school year!

Blessings,
